Final Frontier Walkthrough

Breathing Room

At A Glance

From our last session, you'll remember that "New Earth" was suffering from a health crisis, which diminishes the effectiveness of our food supplies, productivity, growth aspirations, and well everything else for that matter. Unfortunately, we do not possess the technology needed to relieve our capitol of the problem, yet. However, once we finish researching "Galactic Epistemology" and "Domestic Development", we will be able to build "Recycling Centers", which add +1 health in the star systems that they are built on.

You can see in the image to the left, that "New Earth(5)" is building a "Capital Shipyard", "New Tokyo(3)" is building a "Mag-Lev Network", "New London(3)" is building an "Intelligence Center", "New Paris(2)" is building a "Mag-Lev Network", and "New Dubai(2)" is building an "Interplanetary Beacon". You'll also notice that our two "Construction Ships" are nearing the completion of "Warp Lanes" that will connect our three largest colonies, thereby, providing trade routes for all systems involved in the project, not to mention, faster traveling times between them. Also, the image shows that we are in a particularly wealthy part of the galaxy, as we are surrounded by vast resources, but we can't get to them without "Star Bases" or several border expansions.

Yes, I Need Another Map

On the first turn of this session, our Destroyer arrived at "New Dubai" to act as garrison for the new colony. Two turns after that, "New Earth" finished building a "Capital Shipyard", so I put her to work on another "Advocate of Survival" to further spread our values in our empire. At the same time, "New Paris" completed the construction of it's "Mag-Lev Network" and our economy was given a welcome boost (we went from +3 to +7 commerce per turn), as a result. I put her to work on an "Interplanetary Beacon", next. Also, the PDS we sent, had finally arrived to act as a garrison for that system.

On the same turn, the "Advocate of Survival" that "New Earth" sent to "New Dubai" arrived spreading our value and influence to the system. Before it arrived, "New Dubai" had zero influence growth potential, because it had not yet completed it's "Interplanetary Beacon". Once the value is spread and the construction of a beacon and dome are completed, the colony will have enormous cultural growth, so it won't take long before we can get at the gold resource to the west. Oh, and one of our scouts found another map.

It's About Time

On the next turn, "New Tokyo" finished building it's "Mag-Lev Network" and we were given another welcome boost to our economy! I put her to work on an "Intelligence Center", which will help with our espionage efforts later on, once we have enough to spend on it, that is.

At the same time, one of our scouts obtained 106 credits from some space wreckage! That's very good news, because we can bump our research back up to 70% now, with the extra breathing room!

Also, our two "Construction Ships" finished laying down "Warp Lanes" from "New Tokyo" to "New Earth" to "New London", which provided +1 commerce in each system from trade route income. I put them to work on the warp lanes that will connect the rest of our empire to the capitol.

The Future Is Bright

On the next turn, we finished researching "Galactic Epistemology" and I chose not to adopt the "Democracy Civic" (provides bonus to happiness), because we still need the production and commerce bonus that the "Monarchy Civic" provides. Our next research project was obvious, because we need economic growth most of all, so "Domestic Development" was chosen, because it will allow us to build "Banking Systems".

Looking Good

On the same turn, "New Dubai" finished it's construction of an "Interplanetary Beacon", so I put her to work on a "Survival Dome", which provides and additional +3 influence growth. We are getting closer to our goal of being able to build an "Extraction Facility" on the nearby gold resource, so our economic situation is starting to shape up.

On Second Thought

You can see in the image to the left, that our health crisis has spread to "New Tokyo" and "New London". Also, we are starting to have an unhappiness problem in both of those colonies. We should be able to fix the health problem with the installation of "Recycling Centers", fairly soon, but our people's happiness will have to wait for a while longer.

We're Blind

You'll notice in the image to the left that there isn't any information displayed about our rivals. That's because, one of the changes that came with the expansion pack, was that you are required to spend money on espionage, before any information about rival civilizations becomes available, including statistics. Once our economy rebounds, we will begin investing part of it toward espionage, which will allow us to learn more about our neighbors.
