End Game
Let Slip the Dogs of War
On the next turn, New Tokyo finished building it's "Factory", so I put her to work on a "Capital Shipyard". On the same turn, New Dubai finished building it's "Banking System", so I put her to work on a "Commercial Satellite", which adds +1 influence growth and +2 commerce in the system it is built. Also on the same turn, New London and New Paris finished building their factories, so I put the former to work on a "Capital Shipyard" and the later to work on a "Battleship".
One turn later, we finished researching "Capital Ship Focus" and I declined the adoption temporarily, so that I could adopt all three civic changes at once. I chose "Space Elevator" to research next because the technology will allow us to build "Jump Lanes" (greatly decrease travel times) and allows us to build the "Stardock" structure, which increases trade route yield by 50%. Also on the same turn, New Earth finished building our first Battleship (+20% City Attack promotion), so I put her to work on another!
As you can see in the image to the left, I adopted "Capital Ship Doctrine", "Police State", and "Mechanized Work Force" civics all at the same time and endured a single revolution instead of three. Also on the same turn, Machiavelli completed his greatest work and named our civilization the largest in the galaxy, but we already knew that.
Over the next few turns, New Tokyo and New London finished building their "Capital Shipyard", so I put them to work on a battleships. Also, we finished researching the "Space Elevator", so I chose "Industrialism" next which adds another 15% production at the cost of +1 unhappiness. Also on the same turn, New Earth finished building it's second battleship so I put her to work on a third. One other thing that is worth mentioning, is that the pirates have come out in force. They are mostly just pillaging our warp lanes which has become a nuisance. I have our extra destroyers patrolling our empire now. A few turns later, we finished researching "Industrialism", so I chose "Doomsday Weapon" next. This weapon can completely destroy an enemies best planet (requires uranium resource)!
Still a few turns later several of our colonies finished building their battleships, so we had 8 in total now and they were all promoted. It's time to press the attack!.
Sacrificing Liberty
Over the next several turns, each of our star systems were directed to build an additional PDS to protect against roaming counter-attacks. At the same time all of our battleships were moved into place just outside our enemies borders, for a simultaneous assault on all of them. We declared war on both of our competitors at the same time.
First to go was Lukas and his star system called "Freedom"! Eww, I feel bad about that! *chuckle*
No Quarter Asked or Given!
We took Lukas' capital (Phyrus) next and burned it to the ground, as well. We take no prisoners in this war!
We Need Reinforcements!
Next was Raul's Capital, Isaris, which will be a bit tougher since he has 8 defenders. I had to back off and wait for our other battleships to show up before attacking.
The End of Days
Several turns later, we encountered Lukas' other star systems which I was not aware that he colonized. It seems he may have taken one from Raul. No matter, next to go was the star system called, "Judgment" and Raul's last system called "Hope" was also on the chopping block!
I must admit that I feel rather bad for destroying star systems with such virtuous names like "Freedom" and "Hope", but all warfare is based on deception and a desperate enemy is a very dangerous entity to combat. Maybe that's why Sun Tzu said, "To a surrounded Enemy, you must leave a way of escape" and " Build your opponent a golden bridge to retreat across." Of course the only route of escape must lead to the enemy's destruction by way of a springing trap!
Our Production
At the same time, building wealth in a couple of colonies forced our production rating to even off.
Our Power Rating
You can see that once we started building battleships, our power rating grew to an alarming scale.
